The HTC range of mobile smart phones are not a brand everyone will be familiar with, they are found in many different forms as the UK networks use the manufacturer to make models that they then brand as their own. Examples of this include the HTC TyTN which is branded on T-Mobile as the MDA Vario II, on Orange as the SPV M3100, and on O2 as the XDA Trion. It was only recently that the manufacturer made the decision to sell there own handsets in the UK and currently retailers can connect these to O2, Vodafone and Orange. The reason many people opt for the original HTC models rather than the branded network versions is simply because the operators sometimes take out certain features, physically brand the handsets with their logos, lock the handsets to their network so that they cannot be used on their competitors and tie in the internet options to their online portals so that all browsing is directed through their own services. Not ideal if you have more than one network connection, or if you prefer you handset to look unbranded or if you need the freedom to download from anywhere on the internet.
The HTC S730 is the latest addition to the manufacturers line up and offers some powerful management software and expanded features. It is far more of a business orientated device with support for popular Microsoft applications and software titles than most other mobile phones. Although the HTC range is usually a little bit more expensive than the network equivalents they do offer the freedom from network ties so the small amount extra can make all the difference.
To sum up the features in brief compared with the previous model, the HTC S730 runs on Windows Mobile 6.0 and has the same dual keypad design as the S710 with a standard keypad on the front of the device and a slide out QWERTY keyboard. The S730 is a more powerful device, it has 3G support and a 400MHz Samsung processor. Ideal for business or pleasure, this versatile, compact handset has a large 2.4 inch screen with landscape view option, which is ideal for viewing or editing Microsoft Office Word and Excel documents. With regards to connectivity, the S730 has HSDPA, Wifi, quad-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE and Bluetooth. Pretty impressive statistics for a near newcomer to the UK market, but as you look deeper into these features you start to understand the manufacturers knowledge of mobile communications and why their handsets are becoming so popular.
Delving further we discover that the S730 has 64MB of internal memory which is expandable with a microSD card slot for extra memory space fro documents, emails and applications as well as pictures, videos and games. It also features 3G compatibility which opens up a world of entertainment and information, the user can download the very latest movie trailers, music videos and Mp3 music tracks, surf the internet up to ten times faster than with a GPRS connection, gain access to breaking news and weather reports and make face to face video calls to other 3G enabled handsets.
All in all this is an exciting handset and allows busy professionals to take their office with them, just released on the O2 network in the UK the S730 is expected to be rolled out to Vodafone and Orange shortly.
